WOLPERTINGER
WHAT IS IT?
one of the smaller monsters available. it has a body comprised from various animal parts which are all attached to a small mammal. The most widespread description is that of a horned squirrel or a horned rabbit which firmly puts it in the same family as the American Jackalope.
WHERE DO YOU GET IT?
The best specimans come from the alpine forests of Bavaria in Germany [1] although if you prefer you might also visit Switzerland or Austria. The Wolpertinger, it seems, prefers alpine regions.
Using it in real life:
One of these would make a very unusal pet, ensuring that you win the battle of the birthday presents [2]
Using it in writing:
A pair of the beasts, specially trained, might protect a particular newborn from the things that go bump in the night.
It might be that they are considered delicaies but, due to their natural elusivness, are a very rare treat indeed.
To slip into the dark side for a moment you mght use the Worpletinger as a low level thief type creature. After all, who's going to suspect the tiny animals of such wrongdoing?
A Worpletinger would serve well as the requisite furry thing to your evil genius so that he's got something to stroke while he threatens the world.
MIGHT ONE TAKE OVER THE WORLD WITH IT?

Postscript: I've been having some problems with the Internet recently as well as spending all my time doing coursework (which is taken from the old Abudabian word and is properly pronounced as "playing Assassins Creed")

These, I haven't heard of before just now. They sound both cute and icky! I would definitely have one amongst my crew.
