A - Z Challenge [A - D]

| INTRODUCTION
You might have noticed that I'm late starting this monster challenge but that's because I've been wrestling with school in a futile attempt to get on top of assignments, lectures, reports and everything else [1]

A IS FOR ASTRAL IMPROV

Every band has a great idea when it comes time to name themselves. [2]
In this case the moment went something like this:
"How do we like it?  We like it loud!"
"Who else likes it loud?  Deaf People!"

So it was that Astral Improv made up the posters and put on the worst attended concert in the world.  In the aftermath of it all they realised that the advertising had all been written in Morse Code rather than sign language, deaf people can't hear but they can read and the cryptic nature of the poster meant that the only people who actually attended thought that they were going to a concert by Gyro Institute[3]

B IS FOR BARELY APHRODISIA

Who would have thought that Shakespearian Metal would take off in such a big way? This is the cover for their second album "To be or not to be"
Speaking as an artist [4]:
Oh sure.  Minimilist art always seems simple.  I mean you draw a few basic shapes or even just a line down the middle of the page and just like that you've got a movie poster.
The reality is that, like most things in life, it's more difficult than it seems and these things which look as though they've been cranked out in minutes actually take quite a bit longer [5].

C IS FOR CHORD OF THE GODHEAD
With bland vocals, little to no stage presence, bad lipsyncing and pre recorded backing tracks.
Their only fans are the people who love to tear down groups like this and that's the market that Chord of the Godhead has broken into.

"The it's so fake that it's bad, which makes it good, which makes it bad" market.  Well played sirs, well played indeed

D IS FOR DRAMA LLAMA
What do you get when every member of the band plays bass guitar?  And then they all want solos?  What you get is a tendency to have concerts that last for days and alot of impromptu bass battles as everyone tries to outsolo everyone else. [6]

Speaking as an artist:
Managed to keep the previous compies of this one but more or less it was just a series of minor tweeks here and there.

| NOTES:
  1. "Whats that?  You actually want to make some art?  Sounds like it's time for more assignments!"
  2. Sometimes the great idea is to gag the drummer before you start.
  3. To this day Astral Improv and Gyro Institute share a deep hatred for each other.
  4. Which doesn't sound in the least bit pretentious
  5. The phrase "bit longer" is used to disguise the fact that this actually took ages. Then the bloody computer crashed and I lost everything except for the final image.
  6. I realise I wrote that as a joke but damn if I wouldn't blow off work to go see them.

    1. Brilliant minds were on special when I went to the Smarts Shop. The one I chose was a little bit twisted but it's otherwise OK. (plus I lost the receipt)

  4. I like the way you think! Just the name of your blog alone caught my attention! Stopping by from the A to Z Challenge. Incidentally, you have also been honored (cursed?) with nomination for the famed? Liebster Award. Feel free to ignore this if you are not into chain Blogging Awards, but if you feel like having some fun with it, take a peek over at http://taochild.wordpress.com/2013/04/10/atozchallenge-it-is-i/ for details and explanations. Keep up the good work! :D

    1. It might be a while before I get round to it but thanks for the award and the visit. I swear that it's not always lecture not always lecture notes that get posted.
